Technical Notes

"Demo downloads available" indicates a demo/freeware/shareware available through web site. "Demo request available" refers to company contact required for a demo CDROM.

The accompanying CDROM has a selection of various freeware and shareware as well as demos. Various file folders and or subdirectories are named accordingly so you can find the particular demo, freeware and shareware. Assortments of other program titles may be included in the collection that may not have been cited in the presentation. Proceed to install and explore.

Please Note:
Installing most freeware using TTS features (e.g. Talking Clipboard, ReadPlease2000) will require first installing Microsoft speech and agents. See CDROM and folder named Microsoft Agents. Open folder "install 1" and proceed to double click and install program(s) and do so until each folder has been installed. Then proceed with install of Talking Clipboard or ReadPlease2000.

Winzip may be required and is provided (see directory named "Winzip" and simply double click to install program). Any problems with the install you should seek technical support and or visit respective company(s) or source web site for technical assistance and possible tutorials.

In addition, some reference materials and articles are included in the collection for interest. Adobe Acrobat Reading is required to open pdf files.

Presentation Content and Outline
This presentation is available on the CDROM in the form of a Word document named "LDATver04.doc" and is in a web page format (html) for following web links. Using your web browser (Netscape or Explorer) proceed to open the page named "index.html" and follow the hyperlinks in the folder "LDAT HTML ver (web)".

Freeware and Shareware
Public Domain/Freeware: These are computer programs that may be freely copied and distributed by anyone.

Shareware: This refers to programs that you may legally copy and try for free. If you decide to keep a shareware program that you have copied, you must mail the producer of the program the purchase price for the program. Shareware is a simple, inexpensive way to try before you buy, but it only works as long as everyone follows the rules and pays for programs they keep.
