BEACON PRINCIPLES
Personal Orientation: There is a focus on the client first and foremost as a person with strengths. Services are aimed at developing the assets and strengths of each individual to help them maintain a sense of identity, dignity, self-esteem and competence. Skill and Resource Development: Services provide opportunities for the development of needed skills and resources to increase personal competencies and quality of life. Client Involvement: Service is client-centered and involvement of the client is sought in every aspect of their lives. Self-Determination: Clients have both the right and the ability to make choices in the environments of living, working, learning, and social, and to accept responsibility for their lives. Support: Services should be offered in an environment that creates a sense of belonging and provides assistance for as long as it is needed. Hope: Recognizing that all individuals have the potential to grow and develop, a range of opportunities must be provided to allow clients to explore their values, interests, and abilities to develop the confidence needed to take the lead in their recovery and to sustain their hope for a better future. Community Integration: Involvement with the natural support network of family, friends and community resources is critical to a positive outcome. The program is committed to successful community integration for all the clients and to the development of the community supports necessary to facilitate this integration.
