THE BEACON TEAM

Program Manager: The Program Manager is responsible for the leadership of the Beacon program. The Program manager works closely with program leader, clients, staff and families to provide a high quality Growth and Recovery Program

Program Leader: The program leader is responsible for the day to day functioning of the Beacon Program. The Program Leader works with staff, clients and families to provide a high standard of growth and recovery work on a daily basis.

Co-ordinator: When you come to the Unit, you will be assigned a specific staff person who is called a co-ordinator. You and your co-ordinator begin meeting as soon as you are settled in. Together, you will meet regularly to do the Growth and Recovery work. When you are discharged from the Unit to the community, you will work with a different co-ordinator if the Community Integration Team continues to work with you.

Growth and Recovery Workers: Registered nurses, LPN's, and other program workers co-ordinate the activities of the clients each day and/or act as individual co-ordinators and/or are involved with medication teachings.

Psychiatrist: There is a psychiatrist for clients on the Beacon Unit, who usually visits the Unit on Thursday morning. If you would like to meet with the psychiatrist please let your co-ordinator or other staff member know.

Medical Doctor: There is a medical doctor for clients on the Beacon Unit, who visits at various times throughout the week. If you would like a medical consult or have a medical issue that you would like brought to attention, please let your co-ordinator or other staff member know.

Psychologist: There is a psychologist who works on the Beacon Unit who is a resource that is utilized within the growth and recovery work whenever it is required.

Social Worker: The Beacon Social Worker is knowledgable about community resources and community services and assist clients in these areas when necessary.

Occupational Therapist: The occupational therapist on the Beacon Unit works with clients on an individual or group basis to assess and provide therapeutic intervention if needed.

There is also a pharmacist, physiotherapist, speech therapist and dietician working in the building who are available to meet and work with you if you and the Beacon Team feel that this would be helpful.
