ACCESS NOVA SCOTIA

The main job of Access Nova Scotia is to respond to inquires about government and make all forms of government information easier to find and easier to get.

An Access Centre is a place where individuals, business people and community groups can find out:

  • what government information, services, programs and regulations are relevant to your situation,
  • who in the government they need to talk to about this or that,
  • how that can be done as quickly and simply as possible.
Specifically, for those who have recently lost a loved one, Access Nova Scotia can provide information from or direct you to:
  • Vital Statistics (birth, deaths, marriage certificates)
  • Registry of Motor Vehicles (re transfer of vehicles to an estate)
  • Human Resources Development Canada (regarding pension, survivor benefits, etc.)
  • Registry of Joint Stock Companies (regarding closing of a business, or changing partners, officers and directors of a company)
  • Revenue Canada (forms for preparing Income Tax for Deceased Persons, closing of business)
Should bereaved persons require a particular support group, Access Nova Scotia staff can provide that information as well. Persons needing specific information from the booklet and/or unable to obtain complete booklet may obtain photocopied portions of the booklet from Access Nova Scotia.

The Access Nova Scotia office can be contacted at:
