Circle of Friends

ACTIVE SUPPORT GROUPS THAT
MEET ON A REGULAR BASIS:

1. The Bereaved Parents Support Group:
Contact - Pediatric Palliative Care Service (902) 428-3262
These meetings take place on the First and Third Tuesday of every month 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Atlantic Child Guidance Department. They are for parents who have had a child die. The Group meets so parents can help each other in coping with their loss and to offer caring, reassuring support.

2. Bereavement Support Group:
"Under Pregnancy and Newborn Loss Committee"
This group meets at the IWK Health Centre, on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. It is an education and support group for people who have experienced the loss of their baby through miscarriage, etopic pregnancy, stillbirth and newborn death.

3. ELFA (Early Loss with Fetal Abnormality) Support Program:
Contact - Program Coordinator at 420-6654.
It is a support program for parents who have made the difficult decision to interrupt a wanted pregnancy due to determined or likely birth defects. This program provides education, communication, recognition, and hope with their loss and grief. It meets the third Monday of each month from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the IWK Health Centre.

4. Children's Bereavement Group:
Contact - 902-428-5920.
This group meets for eight weekly sessions. It provides a safe, supportive environment for children aged 5-12 years, to share their loss and grief with peers. It is for children who are grieving the loss, through death, of a parent or a sibling.
