AIR TRAVEL FOR FUNERALS
Most airlines offer reduced fares for individuals travelling to attend funerals. Contact the airline to obtain information about restrictions and time limits for refunds after the travel is completed.
LIFE INSURANCE POLICIES
Upon the death, the person(s) named as beneficiary(ies) on individual life insurance policies are entitled to the death benefits as described in the policies. One first determines the name of the insurance company and/or the agent. A contact is made by the family to the life insurance company. The agent may not always be available, so it is often more helpful to contact the head office of the company directly. It is a good idea to have the policy number accessible to quote to them. If you are unable to locate the company, please contact the Canadian Life and Health Insurance Centre.
