Respite workers are people who are looking for occasional or part-time work as an independent respite
provider, caring for a child with special needs, in or near their community.
Respite workers must be competent, reliable, well organised and have excellent judgement skills.
Current certification in Standard First Aid and CPR is mandatory. Further training or experience
is considered an asset.
As most respite care takes place after school and/or weekends, this work is particularly suitable
for people working throughout the day (e.g. teacher aides, etc.).
All respite workers will be required to submit to a Criminal Record check and a Child Abuse
Registry check.
