Frequently Asked Questions

What is the structure of CCANS?

The direction for CCANS is determined by all Association members, which together perform the functions of a Board. There are five Executive Committee members; four are elected at the Annual Meeting and the Past-President also serves on the Executive. The Executive Committee manages the assets and affairs of the association.

The Association membership usually meets six times a year, which includes an Annual General Meeting and conference held in June, and a semi-annual meeting or training event held in the fall.

Several committees report to the Association. These are: Advocacy and Liaison, Education and Conference, and Membership and Nominations.

As well there are six provincial regions in CCANS. Some of these regions meet on a regular basis to work together on issues of common concern.

What does CCANS have to offer to my organization?

Representation and Advocacy   The Department of Community Services and Department of Health regularly ask for members of CCANS to sit and give input on various committees. We are recognized and respected by both departments and continually make contributions to the direction of Continuing Care in the province.

Education   CCANS regularly hosts meetings every two months and an Annual Conference. In addition to the education offered at these meetings, CCANS provides other educational opportunities for members throughout the year.

Networking   Through meetings- both provincial and regional- and through educational opportunities, CCANS offers you and your staff the opportunity to develop a supportive network.

Access to Services at reduced costs   CCANS continuously looks for cost saving services for its members. Presently it offers, with the support of Belmont Financial Group, an excellent Pension Plan at reduced rates to members. In addition reduced home and auto insurance rates are available to employees of member organizations through Fraser & Hoyt Insurance.

What are CCANS fees?   CCANS fees are kept very reasonable compared to those of other similar organizations. Currently we have a flat fee of $365.00 a year for your whole organization. Fees are due as of April 1 within each year.

How many members does CCANS have?   Currently, CCANS membership consists of 50 organizations from across the continuing care continuum.
