15th Annual Apple Tree Foundation
Charity Golf Classic Another Success

Under sunny skies, 108 golfers headed out on the course at Berwick Heights Friday, August 14th for the 2009 Apple Tree Foundation Charity Golf Classic.

  • Team Newton, led by Art Newton, took the Tournament Championship with a score of 62.
  • Division 2 winners were the Kentville Police Service, led by Ken Reade.
  • Division 3 winners were TD Canada Trust, captained by Bev Grant.
There were skill prizes presented for closest to the hole, longest drive, and closest to the line. The team bringing in the largest amount of pledges - $250 - was Wetmore Corkum Appraisals, captained by Kentville Mayor Dave Corkum.

The winner of the gas BBQ, donated by Berwick Building Supplies and a $100 gift card from M & M Meat Shops, was Leslie Holmes of New Minas.

MC for the prize presentations was AVR/Magic 94.9 radio personality Jerry Neville. All major sponsors and hole sponsors were presented with appreciation plaques.

This was the 15th year for the tournament. Berwick Heights Club House supervisor Wayne Shunamon was pleased with how everything went. Of the many tournaments hosted by his course this summer, he said the Foundation's event was among "the strongest" with a good turnout.

Proceeds are earmarked for the future purchase of a wheelchair accessible van for the Kings Regional Rehabilitation Centre.
