C.L.A.S. shall facilitate quality residential and lifestyle supports for persons who are labelled mentally challenged so that they may choose to exercise their rights, fulfil their responsibilities and fully participate within the community.
Mission Statement, 1993

Incorporated in 1979, C.L.A.S., a non profit organization, is situated in the Annapolis Valley and operated under the direction of a volunteer Board of Directors. Our function is to provide the least restrictive, most normalized living arrangements with appropriate supports , for adults with mental handicaps. We presently serve municipalities throughout the Province of Nova Scotia.

AIMS OF C.L.A.S.

  1. To promote respect for individual worth.
  2. To facilitate the emotional, social, physical, and economic support necessary for personal growth and community involvement.
  3. To facilitate the development of individual support networks.
  4. To facilitate opportunities for individuals to exercise the fullest control over their environment.
Our Central Office is comprised of the Executive Director, Program Co-ordinator, Financial Co-ordinator, and Clerical Support staff.

Our residential facilities include:

  1. KENTVILLE GROUP HOME - In this home there are eight residents to whom staff provide counselling, encouragement and support in everyday living. With an emphasis on the development of independent living skills, staff aid in facilitating the residents to identify, seek, and follow through on activities of the residents own choosing.

  2. WOLFVILLE DEVELOPMENTAL I RESIDENCE - The Wolfville Developmental I Residence provides a home for eight people. "Wolfville" supports development in areas of self-help, communication, and social skills, while striving toward community integration.

  3. LIFESTYLE OPTIONS UNLIMITED - Facilitates further residential opportunities for individuals. Dedicated to ensuring that each person have further options and choice of living arrangements. Lifestyle Options Unlimited works to facilitate these choices by developing residential options. Currently available are community (family) homes, small option houses and apartments all with professional support staff.
