Summary of Early Intervention

Early Intervention programs provides specialized services and support for families of children between birth and school entry, who have developmental delays, or are at risk for developmental delay due to pre-maturity or other complications or diagnosis. The most common service includes home visits on a bi-monthly basis or as needed. During these visits the Early Interventionist will work on goals established by the family through the incentive of play activities. We also provide support and information if required by families. Early Intervention has come a long way in the last years, Nova Scotia has finally achieved full coverage by Early Intervention programs throughout the province. Our program is managed by a voluntary Board of Directors, consisting of interested community members. It is a non- profit association and participation to the program is voluntary. Residents in the municipality of Clare & Digby are served by L' Association pour l'intervention précoce auprès de la jeune enfance de Clare.

The overall goal of Early Intervention is to promote the early developmental skills of children by providing support and resources to families.
