HOPE COTTAGE
2435 Brunswick Street, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, B3K 2Z4

STATISTICS
Prior to 1995 only men were
allowed to eat at Hope Cottage. In the early days homelessness was
viewed as a male problem. Even today women will remain in abusive
situations or move in with friends before being homeless. For example
we are averaging about 4000 meals a month, less than 300 of these would
be served to women.
So who goes to Hope Cottage
???
In 1992-93 we had a graduate
student survey the men attending Hope Cottage to find out more about these
people. The following summaries shed a little light on the people.
