Special Olympics Sports Events Provincial Sport Eligibility Criteria
Nova Scotia Special Olympics classifies the sports practised in its programs as official or demonstration sports.
Canadian Special Olympics recognizes the following as official sports:
Demonstration sports are those which have not met the standards required of an official sport, but have been identified by the PPC as areas for priority development:
Training and Competition / Competition Cycle
1. Chapters shall host their Provincial/Territorial Games/Championships, or attend another Chapter's Games, in the year preceding the CSO Games. For example:

Winter Games 2003
2. CSO Summer and Winter Games are held every four years and in the year preceding International Summer and Winter Games. For example:

Winter Games 2004
3. International Summer Games are held every four years, commencing with the first Game sin 1975. International Winter Games are held every four years, commencing with the first Game sin 1977. For example:
