The vice-president will in absence, or inability, of the president perform the duties of the president. The treasurer will have the custody, and management, of the funds of the society; and will keep full, and accurate accounts of all financial matters of People First. The secretary will carry on the affairs of the society as requested by the president and will record the minutes of all meeting of People First Windsor. He/she will be responsible for giving notice of meetings. The advisor is the designated helper of the society and may attend meetings at discretion of the society members. The advisor cannot vote. A member in office will no longer be in office: If he/she gives a written letter saying he/she wants to give up the position. Three quarters of the members at an annual or general meeting can vote a member of the executive out if he/she is unwilling or unable to do their duties. If a member of the executive gives up his/her position someone in the group will fill it. Meetings of the executive will be held at least once a month before the general meeting with a one-week notice. Officers will not be paid for their services. But may get money for reasonable expenses. Officers will be elected at an annual meeting by People First Members The president must be out office 4 years before he/she can run again. Everyone doing work for People First will not have any legal action taken against them unless they do something wrong or does something without the elective or membership saying so. Any papers can be signed by 2 officers of People First. Meeting of the Society: Officers will decide where and when to have meetings. At annual meeting a report of the executive officers. The bank statement, and financial report must be given. All business of people first can be talked about. The president will call meetings and must give a two-week notices written notice. In order to have a general meeting at least 2/3 of the members must be there. Each member can vote once each item. At all meetings of members of People First, every question will be decided by a simple majority vote unless other wise provided for in these by-laws. Unless otherwise ordered by the provincial board of directors of Nova Scotia people first the fiscal year end of the society will be March 31st. The by-laws can be changed at an annual meeting if most of the members vote for the change. Our group and our Planning office continue to work hard to improve the live of the disabled and to ensure a strong voice in the community.
