Who We Are:

Wolfville Children's Centre is an organization oriented to the needs of children, aware that each child needs love, acceptance and knowledge in order to become a confident and sensitive individual.

Our Philsophy: "Every Child is Entitled to Quality Care"

What We Are:

The Centre is a registered non-profit charity, licensed by the province of Nova Scotia under the Day Care Act to provide child care for sixty (60) children. Forty (40) of these spaces are government subsidized and available to parents who would normally not be able to place their children in Registered Child Care.

Goals ands Objectives:

  • To build the child's self-esteem.
  • To stimulate the child's development - intellectual, physical, emotional and social.
  • To provide nutritionally balanced meals and snacks.
  • To encourage language development.
  • To promote school readiness.
  • To foster community awarness.

Programme:

(i) In Home Infant Care:

Infants 3 months - 2 years. Care provided by qualified caregivers in their own home and supervised by the Wolfville Children's Centre.

(ii) Full/Part Time Day Care:
Ages 2 years - 5 years, a daily structured programme built around a monthly theme offering play time, arts and crafts, languages, music and field trips.
(iii) After School Care:
Ages 5 years - 12 years, offering arts and crafts, game time, reading time, play time and field trips.

Management - Staff

The overall management of the Centre is overseen by a Board of Directors or Council, made up largely of parents whose children attend the Centre. This provides the desired and necessary parental involvement in the programme. Operation of the Centre is administered by the Director and Assisant Director.

Five Early Childhood educators along with a cook implement the Centre's program. The staff are encouraged to continually upgrade their knowledge and skills by attending seminars and workshops and maintain current CPR certification and emergency first aid training.

In addition, the Centre is involved with several educational facilitites in providing practical on the job experience and training to students of Early Childhood education and other courses. These students and other volunteers besides assisting the staff also broaden the children's community awareness.

Parent Inquiries and Visits are Welcome at any Time.
